Comprehensive Solutions to Complex Challenges Across New Zealand

Sensory Modulation and Integration

As part of the Koru Specialist Services, children learn sensory modulation and self-regulation skills to help them manage stress and to enhance their general well-being and educational participation.

Children who experience trauma have a higher level of arousal which impacts the way they process sensory input and regulate emotions.

Children with developmental or neurological differences may also have sensory processing difficulties (SPD).

Koru Multidisciplinary Team ensures children learn how to receive, regulate, and organise their brain responses to sensory information.

Children are taught how to monitor, maintain, and change their level of alertness as appropriate to the situation or task.

We combine Occupational Therapy based on Sensory Integration Therapy with psychotherapy for the treatment of children and young people.
